Location: Squantum Association- East Providence, RI

On the bay- with the bakehouse where the reception was held hanging right over the water. We got to watch a giant pirate ship go by during the reception! The light shone off the the water, the reception room was big enough, but not too big- and even though we got rained out of having everything outdoors, the ceremony inside by the fire was lovely as well. This area is all rocks and hills and trees and water. One of the prettiest places I have visited in a long time.

Cake: Sweet Sophistications - Bristol, RI

The cake was an "Australian" - the cake part was a spice cake (cinnamon, ginger, and cloves filled with sweet cream cheese and apple butter.) Roy apparently goes to Easten Europe quite a bit and is a wiz with marzipan. The fruits decorating the wedding cake were all marzipan. The decorations on the cake matched the pattern on Liz's dress. The yummy frosting was an almond rolled fondant which essentially made it taste like a giant sheet of marzipan. Liz was in heaven- Jim didn't really get any of the leftover marzipan even though Liz swore there had to be some leftover- she surely hadn't eaten all of it!

Photographs: Karen DiTullio - Pawtucket, RI

As you might have noticed already, all photos were taken by the amazing Karen DiTullio. Liz and Mom Rodwell saw her portfolio in the Squantum Association and really adored the techniques she used to print photos (ok, Liz did). She does more artsy stuff than most photographers and is less obtrusive as well. Several people remarked to me (Liz) that she and her assistant, Lisa Ayoub, didn't get in the way or hassle anyone, but somehow managed to capture the moments. Except for in the dressing room, which was quite small, and when we deliberately posed photos, I hardly knew she was there- and yet, she got everything!

Flowers: Li Rog- Providence, RI

Cala lillies and roses and berries, oh my! We had one of our favorite flowers as the centerpieces- the lisianthus (because it sounds like Lizzy Ann) mixed with roses- one of Liz's other favorites. Li Rog did a really tasteful series of potted planters for outside, to enhance the natural landscape. Those wound up on either side of the fireplace due to the rain.

Reverands: Charles and Cheryl Cavalconte (Independent Catholic) - Bristol, RI

These two have the loveliest house- little and creaky and old with hardwood floors. These two were good to work with- they gave us a workbook that walked us through the ceremony, and seemed to understand the mood we were going for well. Cheryl worked with us to get the ceremony readings just right. In the picture below, Charles is doing the ring blessing.

DJ: Dave aka DJ Bujew

Dave is a good friend of ours and put up with our stack of CDs and requests, many of which weren't his taste, and he also went out of his way to find Mom Rodwell's choice songs that she gave us on a list "so the old people would have something to dance to" (her words). He played the Funky Chicken polka for me despite being somewhat appalled. He was great that night and if he'd ever consider doing weddings for pay we'd recommend him. He's an awesome DJ, poet, and musician- one of the best DJs we've ever known.

People mentioned specifically that Dave's DJ'ing was unobtrusive during dinner and didn't bug anyone, and perfect to dance to with a good mix of music for everyone. He was great.

Ceremony Musician: Dan aka sol3

Dan is a friend, former co-worker and bandmate of jhimm's, and someone who we really trusted to get the music in the ceremony right- to play his own wonderful compositions when everyone was waiting in and to trigger our chosen music (The Cure's "Just Like Heaven") when everyone was processing down the isle (turned out to be the stairs when we moved indoors). Dan was supposed to have a lot of room and he got moved into the corner when things went inside- but it worked out anyway, he rolled with it. When Just Like Heaven ran out just as I appeared on the stairs, he triggered new music and nobody could tell that it wasn't intended.

He also triggered jhimm's composition in the middle of the ceremony and played the recessional music at the end. jhimm and I love his piano pieces so it was wonderful to have him.
